Lesson 2 | Class 2 | Snowflakes Northeast Edition | Reader 2
This is My Field
Start Off
A friend comes to your house. He wants one of your toys. What will you tell him or her?
Napoleon was a general of the French army. His army fought battles in many lands and won all of them. Napoleon was proud and happy but his soldiers were unhappy. They did not have enough food to eat and were hungry all the time.
One day, Napoleon called a captain and ordered, "Take a hundred strong men with you and go to the nearest village. Cut all the corn in the fields and bring it back to the camp.' The captain took a hundred young soldiers with him. On the way to the village they met a farmer. The captain said to him, "Take us to the nearest field.' The farmer took the captain and the soldiers to a big corn field.
The captain ordered
his soldiers, 'Cut the corn and put it in your sacks.'
The farmer stopped him
and said, 'Not
here, sir. We
will go to
another field.'

The farmer replied, 'Please do not be angry. This is my field, the other one isn't mine. So I brought you here.'
The captain was ashamed. He turned to the men and said, 'Don't cut any corn from this field. We will go to another one.'
